Baltimore-based, freelance composer Peter Dayton writes music that appeals to diverse listeners through its remarkable combination of energy and intimacy. His compositions have been performed across North America and in Europe; his orchestral pieces have been recorded by the Brno Philharmonic for the Ablaze label. Peter Dayton is involved in LGBT community activism, and was one of the founders of the Baltimore artist collective and multimedia series Amplified Cactus.
Peter is the Interim Executive Director for Arts Education in Maryland Schools (AEMS), a Baltimore-based, statewide non-profit that advocates for and advances equitable access to quality arts education for Maryland's public school students.

May 26th/June 4th, 2022, at 7pm EDT: Peter's piece If They Delight setting poems by Gertrude Stein, wass performed by sopranos Rachel Hanauer, Jade Espina, and Caroline Spaeth at a Gertrude Stein festival: The Voice of Gertrude Stein at the Contemporary Theatre Company, 327 Main Street, Wakefield, RI 02879. Additionally, an excerpt from Peter's opera MAY SHE | SHE MAY was performed and on May 26 Peter took part in a pre-concert panel discussion about Stein and her writings.
April 30, 2022, 5:30pm: Soprano Katie Procell will premiere Peter's song cycles Lost Daughter: Songs on the Myth of Persephone and Desiderata: Ten Pieces of Wisdom along with a performance of excerpts from Lori Laitman's Living in the Body.
March 19, 2022, 7pm: Peter's piece If They Delight, songs setting poems by Gertrude Stein, was be performed by No Divide Kansas City at their concert "Come As You Are: Vulnerability in the Concert Space." The concert will take place at St. Mary's Episcopal Church 1307 Holmes St., Kansas City, MO 64106. Click the link above for more information.
